TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The e-Campus project is a research project that, as part of its mission, aims to offer information and services for the benefit of those living, working and visiting the Lancaster University campus while pursuing a research agenda in the area of public displays.

e-Campus is part of the Lancaster University computing infrastructure and as such you are bound by the terms that apply to all Lancaster University systems (http://www.lancs.ac.uk/iss/rules/rules.htm). In addition, your use of this web site and of the e-Campus system is provided according to the following terms and conditions:

General

e-Campus is an experimental system and it should be understood that all services are provided on a best effort basis. We are unable to provide any guarantees regarding the display of specific content items. Services, infrastructure and content may be added or withdrawn without notice.

All interactions with the e-Campus system are subject to logging, analysis and publication or sharing with other research organizations for the purposes of research. We will not publish individual user identities and will make a best effort to anonymise and/or aggregate data prior to publication unless instructed otherwise by an appropriate University entity or external body (for example if this is required as part of a response to a Freedom of Information request).

Submitting content

As a provider of content, including content that you create using applications such as the e-Campus poster tools you agree to the following:

  • You own the copyright to this material or have the permission of the copyright holder to display it on e-Campus.
  • The content is to the best of your knowledge not offensive, pornographic, illegal, derogatory or abusive
  • The content conforms to all relevant University regulations relating to the display of material on campus
  • You certify that the content is not advertising for commercial gain for entities outside the University
  • You certify that the content is to the best of your knowledge not designed to harm the e-Campus system or the systems or networks of the University, or support illegal or prohibited behaviour either on or off campus
  • You certify that the content has not to the best of your knowledge been designed to invade the privacy of anyone on campus You agree that this content can only be shown at the absolute discretion of the e-Campus project content approval team (at the Computing Department, Lancaster University)
  • You give permission for the content to be screened on e-Campus and used for any other purpose by members of e-Campus or associated projects.
  • You give permission for data to be recorded about your content for research purposes of the Computing Department, Lancaster University.

Providing tailored services

If you register your phone with e-Campus we will record sightings of your phone using the e-Campus infrastructure. All phone sightings and subsequent interactions with the e-Campus system are subject to logging, analysis and publication or sharing with other research organizations for the purposes of research.

We will not publish individual user identities or Bluetooth MAC addresses and will make a best effort to anonymise and/or aggregate data prior to publication unless instructed otherwise by an appropriate University entity or external body (for example if this is required as part of a response to a Freedom of Information request).
